Meet Heath Forbes, a name you may only be beginning to hear but who’s already adding stories and sounds to the music world. Heath comes from Monroe, Louisiana, in which culture and tradition abound. Imagine a thirteen year old boy really likes music ; that is how Heath began strumming his guitar and loving the sounds. He was influenced by classic country and rock & roll but also found the 90s alt rock he paid attention to as a teenager also. This mix of genres and sounds made Heath the artist he is currently. Picture a music enthusiast that is influenced by Tom Petty, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jerry Reed. No wonder Heath grew into a musician whose varied style crosses classic and contemporary. What connects it all is the authentic Americana spirit that pervades his work, making Heath Forbes more than a name: a storyteller via song linked to America’s musical heartland. So now imagine him placing all of these elements on stage around Nashville; That is Heath for you.
From College Football to Music
Heath’s early life snagged melodies and touchdowns. Growing up around Monroe, Louisiana, he split his attention between 2 passions : music & football. Some recognized him to be a college football player at The University of Louisiana at Monroe, however all those close to him knew of his love for music as well; he was a musician. This particular dual track paved the way for an intriguing journey. Heath started playing guitar at thirteen and paid attention to classic country, rock & roll and the pounding 90s alt rock. These musical influences included Tom Petty and Jerry Lee Lewis and inspired Heath to pursue the career he would later pursue. He heard Nashville calling after college and followed the music. Switching towards the center of country music was a leap of faith. He got directly into writing music and interacting with the local scene. In 2011, with determination and imagination, Heath released his very first album, Caught in the Middle, that included performances by various other Red Dirt artists. This chapter wasn’t simply about performing; It was about finding his sound’s pulse and starting a lifelong musical journey. Between all the music and performances he also found ways to perform and write in Nashville. This mix of commitments, rhythms and melodies reflects Heath’s early life as a passionate and lively journey.
The Unexpected Setback
Life in the music business has its downs and ups and Heath Forbes understands that too. When he signed a record deal in 2012 things appeared to summing up and the big break was at last coming around. But life threw him a curveball: the label folded by chance, leaving him to determine his next action. The setback was definitely disheartening; But music never left Heath’s heart. Instead of entirely depart, he continued to play gigs and write songs when inspiration struck in the Nashville music scene. These challenging times weren’t only a halt; They were a time for real reflection and growth for Heath. He frequently found new musical concepts and inspirations that could otherwise have gone unnoticed if things gone as planned initially. The hurdles didn’t break his spirit; They added depth to his music and fuelled his drive. This pause served as a time to gather new material, enabling Heath to return stronger. Those many years of contemplation must have paid off, because new songs have been found which were simply waiting around – practically begging – to be shared with the world.
A Triumphant Return
Fast forward to 2024 and Heath Forbes returned to the scene. With what appeared like a cache of studio-ready tunes he was on the mission; A quest to get back with his roots and tell his life through music. This particular journey began with his single “Living Like Outlaws.” It was a track based on his road racing with a race team and capturing the edge of a life lived in extremes. Heath does more than play rhythms and notes; his music is more than notes and rhythms. It is about the stories he heard and the feelings he experienced as he went along. He followed up with an additional single on Valentine’s Day 2025: the sentimental single “The Reason.” This track was not about love in the conventional sense either; it was more of a concept track. It was a reflection of his journey, of purpose and resilience, and brought to mind thoughts about what keeps him going ahead. You are able to feel the passion and resolve in each line on “The Reason” listening to it. These releases marked his official return from musical retirement, and show Heath Forbes still has several musical chapters to go. He is back with a blitz, prepared to talk about much more of his world with us via his music.
Looking Ahead
The future appears really good for Heath Forbes and in case you love his music, you better stay around because there is so much in store. It will be like opening a brand new gift every few weeks and the music seems like it’ll be worth the wait. Heath is not about creating music in the studio; making music with Heath is more than creating music. He is also on the stage rather frequently. You can catch him performing in all sorts of venues close to Nashville (sort of his playground these days). And here is the thing about Heath: when he isn’t creating music you might find him working in quite another scene. He is really a part time pit crew member for a World of Outlaws racing team. Talk about living at the edge; This’s a guy who likes ‘high-octane stuff’. It is like his life is a fusion of motorsport and music. So, whether you dig Americana tunes or race tracks, Heath’s world has different things for you. Keep a close eye & ear open – you never know what he is doing next.
